Dolphin Song
by Olivia Newton-John
See them playing in the moon light,
watch them dancing a song.
Have they cared for each other?
There is no question of course,
they deserve to be treasured as a source of love.
In their minds there are answers,
and in time we will know,
what the truth is about of what all we don't know.
They have no rule for hatred,
though they have suffered much pain.
"From the race we call human, we are afraid a lot."
If I can only help to ride on with my dolphin song,
then I have lived what I was set out to do.
If I can only make one man a will, one passing care,
then I fulfilled what I promised to.
Let us hope it is not too late,
and that we can mend all the pain we have inflicted on a friend.
We were born with a freedom,
we were born with a truth,
why then do we abuse if we could choose to love..

Pushing through green waters
Symbol of joy
You leap from the depths
To touch the sky
Scattering spray
Like handfuls of jewels
Not caged by union rules
Unfettered by sales targets
No trains or planes to catch
Your time is set by the flow
Of the sea's tides
And the moon's glow
You give us images of ecstasy
That we lock away
Behind the doors of memory
For quiet moments
When released from our possessions
We dream of a freedom like yours.

WELCOME TO THE DOLPHIN SEA
I see your eyes,
they always welcome me.
And then I see how much you want me by your side.
I feel your touch.
You are so warm to me.
You want to share with me the feelings that you have.
You hold me tight.
I feel my arms surround you.
And then I feel your love in me,
and the tears fall from my eyes.
We are so close,
together we are as one.
We share a love that no one else can understand.
Then you drift away,
and I feel my heart is breaking,
but then you turn and so feel your eyes on me.
They say "I'm here,
I'll always heal your pain."
And so I reach out and I smile,
as the tears fall from my eyes.
You teach me trust,
You show me the meaning of love,
You help me understand life's little mysteries.
You are my guide,
you help me through this life.
So now I wander all my roads
with a dolphin in my heart.

DolphinSong
The cry of a dolphin says here I’m the stranger
The sea foam and moon tide still meter their song.
Off the bow I feel singing without hearing voices,
A keen, quiet wisdom to steer us along.
With the slipping of latitude I’m losing my footing,
Forgetting the places I thought were my own.
Asleep in the fo’c’sle I dreamt I heard crickets--
The dolphins are singing to welcome me home.
Because the spinner dolphin swims with the yellowfin tuna, they have been slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands in the purse-seine tuna fisheries, which has produced the controversy that led to the enactment of national and international laws for dolphin safe tuna.
Dolphins sleep with one half of their brain plus one eye closed, then switching to the other side of the brain and the other eye closed during other parts of the day -- slowing down everything inside their bodies and moving very little.
Baby dolphins are sucked forward by the motion of their swimming mothers -- giving them a needed assist -- when they position themselves to the right and behind their mothers.
Dolphins, such as the bottlenose dolphin, use their teeth only to grasp prey, since they swallow their food whole.
There are about 40 species of dolphin. Some can hold their breath for as much as 30 minutes, while others must breathe every 20 seconds.
Breathing through a blowhole on the dorsal surface of the head, a dolphin contracts and relaxes a muscle flap covering the hole to open and close it.
The curved mouth of the bottlenose dolphin gives it the appearance of a continual smile.
Dolphins are marine mammals that are part of the scientific order Cetacea (including all whales), of the suborder Odontoceti (toothed whales), of the family Delphinidae, which includes the well known bottlenose dolphin and the orca (killer whale).
Jumping as much as 20 feet out of the water is not unusual for dolphins.
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Dolphin Magic

Lulled to peace in the arms of silence
a hidden song flows like a stream.
Within the notes I know that I am here,
I know that I am whole.
The darkness within is splintered by the starfire jewel.
The angels of the sea appear to me in sanctuary.
I call to them for healing,
I call to them for peace.
I feel their emotions, their essence, their joy.
And beyond the furthest reach I sense their presence.
A spell is cast.
The turmoil within is banished, my soul at peace.
Calmed by a love - so unique, so pure.
I look into the starfire jewel, the eye of the dolphin.
Our spirits have joined.
